We all have our tricks and ideas of how to live healthier and optimize our daily life. World Class gives you seven tips of how to increase your well-being. And it it’s not only about training.
1. Recover yourself during the night. Your sleep is the foundation of your well-being. A good night sleep provides you with more energy and increases your immune system and ability to concentrate. Do you have difficulties to get going in the morning, consider going to bed earlier at night. The evidence that you get enough sleep is if you wake up rested and full of energy. Start with looking over your bedroom environment. It should be a calm and peaceful oasis for recovery and most importantly have a nice bed. Computers, TV’s and to do lists does not belong in the bedroom. Make sure it’s relatively cold and make sure its quiet and dark when you are going to sleep.
2. Take every opportunity to be active. Short and regular walks in a good tempo are a simple and effective way to both relax and activate your body. And they need neither to be scheduled nor take particularly much about your time. Embrace classical tips like park your car a couple of blocks from your work and take the stairs instead of the elevator.
3. Try Yoga and Pilates. So does an increasing number of athletes, from golfers such as Tiger Woods to professiona l American Footballers such Ruben Brown of the Chicago Beers. And, of course, a long list of celebrities, from Madonna to Julia Roberts, for whom Pilates is the latest “in thing”. The publicity given to Pilates and Yoga training by the rich and famous has helped it make it the fastest growing fitness activity of all, increasing in popularity by more then 100% annually over the past few years. In World Class Pilates and Yoga classes you not only train your muscles but you also increase your flexibility and balance at the same time as you increase your energy level and alertness. As Joseph Pilates used to say: “In ten sessions you will feel the difference. In 20, you will see the difference. And in 30, you will have a whole new body”.
4. Get a massage. Massage therapy is more popular than ever and it’s a great way to relax and unwind. More and more clinical tests are proving that a massage – if done correctly – can produce all sorts of positive biochemical effects that foster not only a deep sense of relaxation, but also produce lower anxiety levels and higher immune efficiency.
5. Enjoy Jacuzzi & Sauna. Few things are as relaxing as taking a Sauna or spend some time in a Jacuzzi. Spending some quality time in either a Jacuzzi or a Sauna will not only clear your thoughts but also detoxify your body.
6. Drink enough water. Water is an essential part of your diet and constitutes around 70% or your body weight. Water is one of the most important key if you successfully want to control your weight and your body fat. The kidneys cannot function without water and if the kidney doesn’t function the liver has to do their job. The liver’s main function is to metabolized stored fat into energy and therefore it is important that it can work at full capacity. If it can’t more fat will be stored in the body and your weight will increase. Current guidelines suggest that you should drink around eight glasses of water per day, and even more in hot weather or when exercising.
7. Lastly and most importantly – train regularly. Train at least two times per week, it will help you feel and perform well at your work or in your daily life. The investment you make in training time will definitely be paid off by increased energy and well-being during the rest of your time. You will be less stressed, think more clearly and receive real adrenalin- and endorphin kicks. Do you find it difficult to get going, take help by a personal trainer who will motivate and help you or find a training mate with whom you like to train with.
